SPARDHA - Connect the Dots: an Ideathon 2022
& National Innovation Challenge
was held at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology
(PIET) on 10th December 2022.
It was aimed at offering a vibrant platform to the youth of today bubbling with energy but lacking in mentoring and also to showcase the projects made by school students. Not only it was a competition, but also the competing teams were mentored by the experts to evolve their ideas further, possibly leading to start-ups. The Ideathon was envisaged as a journey that furthers the evolution of the youth of today as well-rounded individuals who are endowed with the powers of critical-analyticallogical thinking and importantly imbibe the virtue of being lifelong learners. It has been conceptualized from the perspective of identifying students with the potential to generate business ideas and contribute to the evolution of the Start-Up Eco-System in our country. The core intent of SPARDHA is to take a deep dive into the innate strengths of the students and hand holds them in a manner that the India emerges as the
“GLOBAL CRADLE OF START-UPS”
. The Ideathon has been designed as a multi-stage event and was conducted for the senior school students of class groups 9th to 12th. In Ideathon, more than 250 ideas were registered by the 170 school teams spanning over 12 states of India including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Odhisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and many more. Out of these, more than 150 teams from hardware category and 37 teams from software category have showcased their idea in the form of working/non-working models. 10 teams had presented their idea in virtual mode also. Many of the ideas presented by school teams were very innovative, unique and according to the requirement of actual problems of the society. 1500 non participant students from nearby region have graced the event as the visitor.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director (Skill Education & Training), CBSE, New Delhi, who has joined the inaugural session in virtual mode and talked about the importance of innovation and start up in the Indian economy and appreciated the efforts of the organizing team. Dr. Shakti Arora, Associate Professor from the Department of Computer Science Engineering at PIET was the convener of the event. Dr. Parveen Goyal and Dr. Daisy Arora, Associate Professors, from the Department of Pharmacy at PIET were co-convenors of the Ideathon.

, Vice-Chairman, PIET, had also addressed the audience and shared the importance of conducting such events. In the beginning, mentoring session was conducted in which a panel of 30 mentors had mentored the teams of Ideathon and NIC. In judgment session, post lunch, all the teams were adjudged by the jury members. The major evaluation parameters were clarity of idea; novelty of idea; social, economic & environmental Impact and economic sustainability.
